The Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) has awarded two female and two male student-athlete’s educational scholarships that will go towards their post-secondary education.
Olivia Davidson, Tien Woo, Aaron Beckerleg & Diego Manzo are this year’s recipients of the CSSHL Scholarship.
The CSSHL would like to recognize student-athletes who develop their life skills while concentrating on their hockey development. The scholarships are open to all current and former male or female student athletes of the CSSHL that are currently in their graduating year of high school or up to 20 years old.
A selection committee from the CSSHL reviews all applications and selects recipients based on four categories: Education, Citizenship and Character, Hockey, and References.
Olivia Davidson:
A three-year CSSHL student athlete with Okanagan Hockey Academy, Davidson will be attending the University of Saskatchewan where she will be studying Animal Bioscience (Pre-Veterinary Medicine). During this time, she will also be continuing her hockey career in the SJFHL for the U22 Prairie Blaze. Davidson is looking to become a veterinarian, combining her lifelong passion for animals with a career that will foster this drive, and allow her to dedicate herself to their health and wellbeing.

It recognizes the hard work, resilience, and commitment I’ve put into balancing academics, hockey, volunteer work, and recovering from injury. As I begin my journey toward becoming a veterinarian, this scholarship support helps make my educational goals more attainable and reminds me that perseverance is always worthwhile and my actions will continue to make a valuable impact.”
“My time in the CSSHL and at Okanagan Hockey Academy has shaped me into the person I am today. Through my three years, this sport, and community of staff and teammates has taught me discipline, accountability, resilience, and the importance of leading by example. Although my journey doesn’t look like everyone else’s, the experiences and challenges and setbacks I faced both on and off the ice have prepared me for life beyond hockey. I’ll always be grateful for the opportunities and lifelong lessons the league gave me – as I carry them with me to university.”
Tien Woo:
Woo joined South Alberta Hockey Academy (SAHA) for the 2025/26 CSSHL Female U18 Prep season. Woo will be majoring in a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at York University.
“To me, winning this scholarship makes me incredibly grateful for the people who have supported me over the last few years. I have put in an immense amount of hard work to get to where I am today, but I also recognize that I could not have done it without the support and encouragement of the people around me. It gives me confidence and motivates me to continue working hard, both on and off the ice, knowing that these efforts can lead to meaningful opportunities. Although recognition is not what drives me, receiving this scholarship makes me proud to know that my hard work has been noticed and valued enough for someone to support me as I continue my education and pursue my goal of becoming a physician.”
“I am incredibly grateful for my time in the CSSHL and playing for the South Alberta Hockey Academy (SAHA). I had the chance to meet like-minded people, compete against high-level players and further develop hockey skills as well as time management. At SAHA, the coaches provided structured feedback, challenging workouts and well-planned practices that helped me improve every day. Academically, the school and small class sizes helped me build strong relationships with my teachers, which allowed me to ask questions and receive the support I needed to succeed. Beyond hockey and school, I made great friends, explored the city, and got to know the local students at my school. My time at SAHA has been a meaningful part of my development both on and off the ice, and I will always look back on the experience with gratitude.”
Aaron Beckerleg:
Beckerleg spent five years with Selwyn House School including the last two in the CSSHL with their East U17 Prep team. Beckerleg will be attending McGill University this fall in the Desautels Faculty of Management, where he will be pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce. He is looking forward to exploring different areas of business, but in particularly he is interested in finance and investing.
“Receiving this scholarship is a tremendous honour, especially knowing the quality of student-athletes across the CSSHL. I know players on other teams who work incredibly hard on the ice and in the classroom who would also be great recipients of this award. Not every league encourages academic and community service, so it’s great the CSSHL is leading the way for student-athletes. I’m very grateful to the CSSHL for this recognition and for their support as I begin my next chapter at McGill.”
“Balancing athletics and academics is a challenge, but it’s worth it. To get the most out of school, especially a school like Selwyn House, you need to participate in the classroom, on the ice, in the arts programs, and through community service initiatives. The CSSHL is a demanding league, but its integration with school allowed me to try different things. The coaches, teachers, and administration all bought in and made that possible. Their support was amazing. I loved my time at Selwyn House and the school’s decision to join the CSSHL played a big role in that.”
Diego Manzo:
Manzo has spent the last two CSSHL seasons playing with Mount Academy. Manzo will be attending the University of Waterloo, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
“To me, winning this scholarship not only helps support me financially during university, it represents how much I’ve grown as a person, player and student-athlete during my time in the CSSHL. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities the league has given me over the past two years. None of this would’ve been possible without the support and care from the staff at Mount Academy. As I begin University, I plan to continue developing the qualities that helped me earn this scholarship and plan to use them in every aspect of my future.”
“Being a member of Mount Academy and the CSSHL over the past two years has given me memories I will cherish forever. Playing the sport I love, going to school with staff that want what’s best for me, all while being with the amazing friends I have made along the way, has helped shape me into the person I am today. Although moving across the country was not an easy decision, I leave Mount Academy and CSSHL as a better version of myself, and with absolutely no regrets.”
